Praia de Vilamoura

Praia de Vilamoura is the beach club beach—a wide stretch of soft golden sand where the Algarve's most glamorous marina meets the Atlantic. Unlike traditional Portuguese beach towns, Vilamoura was purpose-built for luxury tourism, and the beach reflects this upscale character with stylish beach clubs, excellent facilities, and a well-heeled international crowd. The beach stretches from the marina entrance eastward toward Quarteira's fishing harbor, offering plenty of space despite its popularity. The sand is fine and golden, the water calm and clear thanks to rock structures at both ends that moderate the waves. Just steps away, the marina promenade buzzes with restaurants, bars, and boutiques overlooking a harbor filled with luxury yachts. For a different experience, walk east toward Quarteira for a more authentic Portuguese atmosphere, or west toward the dramatic red cliffs of Praia da Falésia, one of Portugal's most beautiful beaches.
